The ministry has sent SSP Subodh Ghimire, who is working with Special Bureau at Police Headquarters, on deputation as the new head of the Kathmandu Range Office.[break]
Officials at Home Ministry said the decision was taken as per the recommendation of Police Headquarters. SSP Chand has been appointed as head of Narcotic Drug Control Law Enforcement Unit, New Baneshwar. “The ministry had endorsed the decision taken by the police headquarters. There were some complaints against his working style,” said a senior official at Home Ministry.
The transfer decision comes a few days after Rana´s wife Goma Subedi reached to Kathmandu Range Office and bossed around the police officials when SSP Chand was not there.
She is said to have spoken with the owner of Casino Anna Tapta Bista, who had been in detention in the Range Office.
The officials serving in the Range office had reportedly filed complaints against Chanda´s working style at the both Metropolitan Police Commissioner´s Office and Police Headquarters. According to his colleagues, SSP Chanda remained absent from the office for two-three days even without notifying his seniors.
