“With a vision to providing affordable solar energy solutions to households in Nepal, SP has embarked on the first phase by targeting urban households in Kathmandu with a variety of customizable solutions that reduces the burden of load-shedding,” said Babin Manandhar, managing director of the company.[break]
Manandhar informed SP plans to expand its service network to other parts of Nepal in the second phase.
SP claims it is the first company in Nepal to introduce an entire range of products including LED bulbs, charge controllers, inverters, batteries and solar modules under its brand. According to the company, the products are well-researched and tested for Nepali conditions.
“The state-of-the-art products are a notch up in traditional solar power designs, which flow energy in reverse direction to the solar panels during low sunshine hours. SP products are hence uniquely designed to save and conserve energy which is the need of the hour for Nepal,” said Bijay Khadgi, director of SP.
The affordable solutions start from as low as Rs 5,000 for a small home system that includes 2 LED bulbs, solar panel, and battery while bigger solutions are customizable as per the need of the customers. According to the company, all products are ISO standardized and further approved by the Renewable Energy Testing Service (RETS) of the Government of Nepal.
The company also offers free energy audits to help potential customers plan their energy needs as the company during its research found that the customers in Nepal generally buy inverters and batteries without proper energy audits.
“With little or no knowledge about maintaining the products, the life of products are severely hampered. Hence, SP marketing strategy includes building consumer awareness about proper usage and maximizing product life that will result in gaining better mileage for the products,” informed Manandhar.
In order to reduce financial burden for consumers, SP will also upgrade existing systems to make them solar compliant and increasing the power backup, said the company.
In order to reach out to consumers more easily, SP has tied up with several cooperative companies and electrical shops that will provide user-friendly financing schemes and wide market for SP products.
