According to the police, the injured is Ram Prasad Mandal, 60, of Sisawanijahada-5, Bajarangwali. Mandal received bullet in his chest.
Police said he was working as a ‘witch doctor’ in the village and might have been shot by a criminal gang.
The injured was taken to the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences after treatment was not possible in Biratnagar.
A gang of four members opened fire at Mandal while he was sleeping at veranda in his home at around midnight.
“The gang fired a bullet with a home-made gun,” informed DSP Pramod Kharel.
Police recorded the gun and two bullets from the incident side.
