KATHMANDU, March 2: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has issued a clarification after news came to light that its central member Mohan Thapa was arrested in the United States.
According to the party, Thapa had previously requested to be removed from his responsibilities as a central member until his personal legal issues were resolved, said RSP Leader and MP Manish Jha.
MP Jha said that they received information that Thapa is in US immigration custody. Thapa had temporarily decided to step away from his responsibilities in order to address his personal legal issues.
Thapa is considered close to RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane and was accused of committing financial transactions with Dhaka Kumar Shrestha. He was arrested in the US last week. However, there is no clear information about what he was arrested for.
