KATHMANDU, March 7: Senior Vice Chair of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Rabindra Mishra, has announced that he is stepping away from party politics and resigning from all responsibilities within the party.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Mishra said the decision was taken after careful consideration, not out of frustration or haste. He acknowledged that despite growing public support for the restoration of the monarchy, the party had repeatedly failed to organize and capitalize on that sentiment, adding that he also bears responsibility as senior vice chair.

Mishra said he will continue to express his views independently on issues such as the restoration of the monarchy and good governance.
Reflecting on his nine-year political journey, he said he had tried to contribute to political and national transformation but the efforts had not been sufficient.
Mishra also congratulated the Rastriya Swatantra Party for its “unprecedented success” in the elections.
He was defeated in the House of Representatives election from Kathmandu-1 for the third consecutive time, having previously lost in 2017 and 2022.
