KATHMANDU, June 28: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal revealed that he stopped court martial against retired army general Kul Bahadur Khadka upon special requests from the leaders of Unified CPN (Maoist).

"I stopped the process of formation of a court of inquiry board (against Khadka) upon a special request from Maoist leaders," Nepal said at a meeting with civil society members and business community leaders on Sunday.

After preliminary findings of investigations, the legal department of the NA had recommended formation of a formal inquiry against Khadka for breaching army discipline. Then Maoist-led government had unsuccessfully tried to appoint Khadka as acting army chief.
