Born in Asoj 23, 1990 BS in Makwanpur, Shrestha joined leftist politics in 2010 BS and took communist party membership in 2011 BS.
He was general secretary of the Fourth Convention of the Communist Party of Nepal from 2036-2040 BS. He was active and firm in his responsibility despite his weak physical condition.
Shrestha had served jail terms in 2024 BS, 2040 BS, and 2042 BS for six years. He was general secretary of the Central Advisory Council from 2048- 2051 BS and chairman from 2051- 2064 BS. Shrestha was till the last day council general secretary since 2064 BS. He is survived by wife and two daughters.
Shrestha has to his credit dozens of book on communism and some are yet to be published, the PM´S statement mentions.
