The 14th meeting of the Fund Management Committee held under the chair of Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Top Bahadur Rayamajhi approved the budget of Rs 3.53 billion for implementing the ´support to Election Commission (EC)´ and the ´state capacity for enabling the human rights planning and policy implementation´ projects.
Of the amount, Rs 3.42 billion was proposed by the EC while Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers is to be given Rs 117 million for planning and policy implementation of human rights.
The meeting also decided to handover the right to the technical committee to approve the additional project for easing citizenships distribution from the district administration offices as a complementary project of the support to EC.
During the meeting, Minister Rayamajhi hailed the crucial roles played by donor agencies for their support in the Constituent Assembly (CA), and rehabilitation and cantonment management of the PLA combatants.
Minister for Finance and co-chairman of Fund Barsha Man Pun expressed confidence that the projects prioritized by the Fund would not face crunch of government budget.
Chairman of donor group and Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Thomas Gass applauded the roles of the Fund played in peace process.
The Fund has gotten another three years´ term extension till 2016, according to a press statement released by the Fund.
