NEPSE falls 11.64 points; daily turnover increases to Rs 9.24 billion

KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday declined 11.64 points to close at 2,699.81 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,711.45 points, initially plunged by around six points, while it soared to the day’s high at 2,720.48 points within the first hour.  The index, however, slid in the next moment and hit the day’s low at 2,691.77 points in the last eight minutes of the trading time. The market recovered around eight points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Finance group with adding 42.44 points in its market value was the single gainer. Of the 12 losers, the development bank declined by the largest of 89.54 points.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also declined 1.56 points. Daily turnover inclined to Rs 9.24 billion from Rs 8.95 billion on Wednesday.

Among the individual companies, 74 were gainers while 160 were registered as losers. Sahas Urja Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 313.56 million.

Two companies including Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and Corporate Development Bank Limited lost the largest of 10 percent in their market prices. Upper Lohore Khola Hydropower Company Limited was recorded as the topmost gainer.
