India is leading the championship with nine gold medals in the two-day event being held at the covered hall of the Dasharath Stadium. [break]
Nepal is at the second place in the tally with two gold, 12 silver and 22 bronze medals while Bangladesh has secured one gold and two bronze medals.
In the 13-16 years age-group of girls, Krishna Devi of India clinched gold in the league matches of above 52 kg category. Sushila Pariyar of Nepal claimed silver while Simala Tamang and Kamala Chaudhary, also from Nepal, jointly finished third.
Likewise, in the U-52 kg, Pooja Laxman Gawade of India won gold while Kumari Tamang of Nepal settled for silver. Other Nepali players Srijana Tamang and Indira Bhujel claimed bronze.
Meanwhile, Asrafi Akter Trisa of Bangladesh won gold in the U-48 kg. Sita Sarki of Nepal finished second in the event. Sarki was ahead of her Bangladeshi counterpart during their league match but a simple mistake cost her the game and had to settle for the second position.
Rukul Sherawat (U-44 kg) of India won gold in the knockout round of the girl´s category. She defeated Bishnu Maya Limbu of Nepal in the final.
In the girl´s U-40 kg league matches, Aishwarya Kukreti of India clinched gold while Priyanka Thapa of Nepal settled for silver. Other Nepali players Puja Karki and Rupa Sahukhala finished third in the event.
Divyani Singh of India and Swastika Aduwa of Nepal secured the top two positions in the girls´ U-36 kg.
In the boys´ 10-13 years age group, Bikash Bhujel (U-30 kg) gave Nepal its first gold medal in an all-Nepal league match. Roshan Dong finished second.
Rupesh Shahi claimed Nepal´s second gold in the boys´ U-34 kg league matches while Bidhan Roka Magar won silver.
Arubinda Ghosh of India clinched gold in U-26 kg while Ajaya Rai of Nepal finished second.
Likewise, Mohan Mohder Ghadi (U-42 kg) of India won gold. Anil Tamang of Nepal claimed silver.
In the knockout matches of the boys´ U-38 kg category of the same age group, Anupam Pal of India defeated Raj Rai of Nepal in the final to clinch gold. Latifuzzaman Siddique of Bangladesh and Sudesh Dong of Nepal jointly finished third.
Yumanm Herojit Singh secured another gold for India defeating Krishna GM of Nepal in the final of the boys above-42 kg category.
Altogether, 96 players from Nepal, 18 from India and nine from Bangladesh are vying for 24 golds, 24 silvers and 48 bronzes in the championship which will conclude on Saturday.
