NEA begins repairing water pipe that burst in Babarmahal

KATHMANDU, Feb 13: The  Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has started repairing the bulk distribution system (BDS) pipe at Babarmahal which was burst on Wednesday while carrying out horizontal drilling for underground electrical wiring.

Ashok Kumar Paudel, Executive Director of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL), said that the repair work of the drinking water distribution pipe in Kathmandu has started since last night.

He said, “After the pipe burst, the water flowed completely and Babarmahal was submerged. We have started the repair work since last night after the water was shut off. Once the repair is complete, we will start the water distribution process.”

During horizontal drilling to lay electrical wires underground, a pipe in the drinking water distribution system in Babarmahal burst on Wednesday, causing flooding and damaging government offices, including the Special Court.
