If she had a chance to change one thing about people universally, it would be ´compassion´ expresses Charu Chadha, Corporate Associate Editor of Boss and VOW magazine speaking to Arsalan Akhter on the ocassion of Women´s Day.

On women’s day, what is the one thing that you wish to change about women universally?

In women I would like to see them have faith in themselves; the ability to be true to yourself, without guilt, without apology.

What is that accomplishment in the working circle that Charu Chadha as a woman has achieved?

I haven’t really done the math on successes and failures, achievements and losses. I consider each day a blessing. I try and find the magic in being alive, knowing that I can change it all, I can make a difference.

How difficult or satisfying has it been for you to balance work and family being a single mom?

There are some great days, and then there are some not so great days – but I have a fantastic support system in life – all the people I love and who give meaning to my life. I share a beautiful relationship with my son. Times are not always happy or easy, but being a parent is a privilege and a blessing.

Have you ever felt that women are in any way inferior to men?

Frankly, I think men and women are just inherently different. All human beings have different levels of talent and interests – not just men vs women. So the question of superiority or inferiority does not even begin to arise.

Do you think there would have been a difference in perception and ideologies if some guy was handling the same work?

I think there would have been a difference even if another woman was the editor. People are different. We think differently, we work differently. So, sure it would have been a little different. However, the core would remain the same; the purpose would remain the same because the magazines are not a reflection of our personal selves. And even today, it is not a sum of one person’s direction or belief. We are a team of people working passionately together.

What is your message to women who are aspiring to step into the so called male dominated society?

Believe in yourself! Not seeing the path does not mean that you are not on it. Live with as few regrets as possible in life.
