Madhesi protestors burn effigy of PM Oli

KATHMANDU, Oct 13: Madhesi protesters in Birgunj on Monday burnt effigy of the newly-elected prime minister KP Oli while the latter was taking oath of office and secrecy amidst a special program organized in the capital.

Agitating locals also torched the effigy of Bijay Gachhadar and Kamal Thapa, newly elected Deputy Prime Ministers, and UCPN (Maoists) Chairman Prachanda in Birgunj.Parsa coordinator for United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) Pradip Yadav said that the formation of the new government cannot affect the ongoing protest in Madhes. A great number of locals participated in border blockade program at Birgunj-Raxaul checkpoint on Monday for the 20th consecutive day.

Agitating Madhesi protesters observed blackout on Monday from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm as a symbolic protest against the new government.
