Lumbini Lions enter NPL’s second qualifier after defeating Kathmandu Gorkhas by 4 wickets

KATHMANDU, Dec 10: Lumbini Lions defeated Kathmandu Gorkhas by 4 wickets in the 'Eliminator' match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) held at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, Kirtipur on Wednesday.

With this win, Lumbini Lions have entered the second qualifier and will now face Biratnagar Kings, who lost in the first qualifier, to enter the final.

On Wednesday, Kathmandu Gorkhas won the toss and elected to bat first. Kathmandu Gorkhas performed poorly, securing only 111 runs in 19.1 overs. The team lost its top four batters in the powerplay, with Ben Charlesworth hitting 4 runs, Akash Tripathi one run, Milind Kumar two and Sunny Patel with seven runs, altogether scoring 14 runs.

Chasing a modest target of 112 runs, Lumbini Lions achieved the target in 17.4 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Opener D’Arcy Short contributed the most with 33 runs in Lumbini's victory.
