The nine-year-old living goddess, who had been staying on the second floor of the traditionally built Kumari Ghar, has been shifted to a secure area at the ground floor near the courtyard.
The Kumari is only allowed to venture outside of her secluded spot on the second floor during the renowned Indra Jatra when she is placed on a wooden chariot and taken around the inner lanes of Kathmandu city.

Apart from which she usually grants audiences to her devotees from her usual place of residence from 7 am to 9 am and 4 pm to 6 pm every day. The devotees are currently not allowed to meet her in this time of national crisis.
Indra Jatra Management Committee Chairperson Gautam Ratna Shakya said the living goddess Kumari had to be shifted to a safer location at the time of national crisis in the country and that she would be reinstated to her former position after ritualistic prayer seeking an apology for the unprecedented measure.
