LALITPUR, Oct 10: The Lalitpur Metropolitan City has provided Rs 500,000 to the family of martyr Binod Maharjan. Maharjan had lost his life during the Gen-Z protest on September 8.

At a programme organised in Lalitpur on Friday, Mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan handed over a bank voucher of the deposited amount to Binod's mother, Lata Maharjan.

Mayor Maharjan said the financial assistance was provided to Binod's family as per the decision of the executive meeting of the metropolis held on September 26.

On the occasion, Mayor Maharjan shared, "The Metropolis provided a small amount of support to the family of Binod as the government has already declared them martyr for the contribution to the protest held calling to maintain good governance and end corruption. The metropolis had also supported Binod's cremation."

Similarly, Spokesperson of the Lalitpur Metropolis Raju Maharjan, who is also Chairperson of Lalitpur Metropolis-9, mentioned that the financial support was provided as a respect to martyr Binod's contribution and sympathy to the bereaved family.

Likewise, Binod's sister Bina Maharjan urged to build a statue of his brother in Lalitpur Metropolis, saying Binod sacrificed his life for the change in the country.
