KATHMANDU, March 6: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra (Balen) Shah has sent a response letter rejecting the request made by the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MOFAGA) to create a working environment for Saroj Guragain as the chief administrative officer.

The ministry had written to KMC on Wednesday requesting to create a working environment for Saroj Guragain to work as the Chief Administrative Officer. In response, the KMC requested to grant financial authority to the acting chief administrative officer instead of assigning the responsibility to Guragain.

In the letter, Mayor Shah has taken a stance of not allowing Chief Administrative Officer Guragain to attend.

The response letter states, “The financial authority can be granted to the acting chief administrative officer to assist in the office operations until the Local Government Operation Act, 2074 is amended or another chief administrative officer is appointed.”

The ministry appointed Guragain as the Chief Administrative Officer on August 26  and sent him to KMC.
