KMC spokesperson Nabin Manandhar informed Republica that the lift has been accessible to the public since Sunday. He said the decision was made following instructions from Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol.

The lift was installed after the KMC office moved from Sundhara to Kamaladi. According to officials, Balen had set a personal password and used the lift exclusively for himself and his team during his tenure. Situated in the office’s parking area, access to the lift was reportedly restricted, with others not allowed to approach it.
