KATHMANDU, Jan 2: A high-level investigation commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki formed to probe the incidents of September 8-9 Gen Z protests, has sought written explanations from former prime ministers Sher Bahadur Deuba and Pushpa Kamal Dahal regarding events during the Gen Z protests.
The commission has sent separate sets of questions to both leaders, requesting written responses. The questionnaires have already been delivered to their respective offices. According to Bigyan Raj Sharma, one of the three commissioners, the queries focus on their personal understanding and experiences of the protests.

“We have written to the former prime ministers to learn about their personal experiences and understanding of the protests, as we believe this could contribute to a more meaningful completion of our report,” Sharma said.
Party sources told Republica that the former prime ministers were also asked about whom they were in contact with during the days of violence.
Meanwhile, the commission is preparing to record a statement from then prime minister KP Sharma Oli. The probe commission said a formal letter is being drafted urging him to appear before the panel. However, Oli has publicly stated that he will not attend the commission to record his statement. “They would better shoot me,” Oli once said in a television interview, rejecting the commission’s request.
