KATHMANDU, Sept 6: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has said that it has found some evidences of irregularities by senior officials of the Nepal Police while awarding a contract to supply parka jackets for the police personnel.

"We have found some evidences of irregularities and violation of legal provisions while inviting tender bids [to purchase jackets for police personnel]," CIAA Acting Chief Lalit Bahadur Limbu said at a meeting of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the parliament on Sunday. He said, "We will complete the investigation and make the report public within 15 days."

The PAC invited Limbu along with other CIAA officials to inquire about the probe.

The multi-million rupee parka deal is related to the purchase of 56,059 jackets for police personnel. The deal became questionable after the lowest bidder was not awarded the tender.
