Govt moves to amend Public Procurement Act 2007, draft open for public feedback

In line with Section 6(2) of the Legislation Act 2021, which requires draft bills to be made public for feedback, the Office published the initial draft of the “Public Procurement (Amendment) Bill” on April 8. Public opinions and suggestions are being collected until April 14.

KATHMANDU, April 12: The government has initiated the process to amend the Public Procurement Act, 2007, with a preliminary draft of the amendment bill prepared by the Public Procurement Monitoring Office.



In line with Section 6(2) of the Legislation Act 2021, which requires draft bills to be made public for feedback, the Office published the initial draft of the “Public Procurement (Amendment) Bill” on April 8. Public opinions and suggestions are being collected until April 14.

Based on the feedback received, necessary revisions will be made to the draft before it is forwarded to the concerned ministry and then to the Cabinet for approval. Once endorsed by the Cabinet, the bill will be tabled in Parliament. After being passed by Parliament, it will be sent to the President for authentication, following which it will come into effect as law.


The proposed amendment includes changes to 38 different provisions of the existing Act, according to officials.
