DARJEELING, Feb 15: Leaders of Gorkha Janamukti Morcha on Tuesday said they may sit for talks with the state and central government with regard to an interim arrangement.

GJM earlier had said it would hold talks only on the issue of separate Gorkhaland state following the killing of its two cadres in police firing a few days ago.[break]

GJM said it would sit for talks with the government on Gorkhaland Autonomous Authority if GAA comprised plain lands surrounding Jalpaigudi´s Dubars and Siligudi.

However, GJM said the killing of its two cadres must be investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and that the accused must be punished. GJM has said it would organize rallies Thursday onwards from Jaya village to Kumani. About 50,000 cadres are expected to participate in the rallies.

But, the government has issued orders prohibiting cadres from assembling in groups or organizing rallies in the areas. All India Development Council has warned GJM that the rally may invite problems.

The opposition parties have started to blame GJM for not being clear about its stance. Dawa Sherpa, acting chairman of All India Gorkha League, said GJM has been throwing dust in the people´s eyes by repeatedly changing its stance.

GJM had agreed to go for an interim arrangement for two years on January 25, 2011 following a tripartite talk in New Delhi.

The indefinite strike called by GJM in Darjeeling from last Wednesday onwards in still in place. Life has been hit hard due to the strike. GJM said it was compelled to continue the strike due to pressure from its supporters.
