Former MP and UML leader Mangal Prasad Gupta passes away

According to UML Kapilvastu District Chairperson Baburam Khanal, Gupta died on Sunday morning at Medanta Hospital in New Delhi following a heart attack. He was over 80 years old.

KAPILVASTU, June 7: Former Member of Parliament and CPN-UML leader Mangal Prasad Gupta has passed away while undergoing treatment in India.



According to UML Kapilvastu District Chairperson Baburam Khanal, Gupta died on Sunday morning at Medanta Hospital in New Delhi following a heart attack. He was over 80 years old.

A veteran politician, Gupta had been active in politics for decades. He first contested parliamentary elections in 1982 (2039 BS) and went on to contest nine elections as a UML candidate. He was elected to the House of Representatives from Kapilvastu Constituency No. 3 in the 2022 general election.


Party officials said Gupta's body will be brought to Krishnanagar on Tuesday, while the final rites are scheduled to be held on Wednesday.


He is survived by his wife and four sons.
