KATHMANDU, March 31: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that former King Gyanendra Shah will not be acquitted in the case of the Tinkune incident.
Addressing the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, Prime Minister Oli said that no one including the former King Gyanendra Shah will not be spared as the government works towards bringing those responsible in Tinkune violence to justice.
Prime Minister Oli said former King Shah was also involved in the violent protests by the pro-monarchy group that took place in Tinkune last Friday. PM Oli has made it clear that anyone who engages in violent protests under any guise will be brought under the legal framework.
He said, “Former King Gyanendra Shah incited the crowd by releasing a public video statement on February 19. Former King Shah should not be exempted either.”
PM Oli accused former King Shah of inciting the crowd through his video statement. When the Prime Minister spoke against the former king, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) MPs stood up in protest in the assembly.
