KATHMANDU, March 9: Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal has returned his red passport (diplomatic passport) to the government.
Khanal surrendered the passport through a letter to the Administration Division of the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday, stating that the purpose of the diplomatic passport issued to him in his capacity as finance minister had ended.

In the letter, he requested the administration to forward the passport to the Department of Passports under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Now I am preparing to depart. I have relinquished the only government property in my possession as a public office holder,” Khanal wrote.
The move comes as part of the formal process of returning government facilities after leaving office. Khanal had served as finance minister in the interim government formed following the Gen-Z movement, and he had reportedly not taken any government benefits during his tenure.
