Election Commission removes two ward chairs from office

KATHMANDU, May 28: The Election Commission (EC) has removed two ward chairpersons elected from the Nepali Congress (EC) from their posts.



The EC stated that the positions of the two representatives became vacant after they left the party.

The ward chairs—elected from the Nepali Congress in the 2022 local elections—were from Musikot Municipality-2 and Dhurkot Rural Municipality-3. 


The EC said the posts were declared vacant in accordance with the Political Parties Act, 2017 and the relevant regulations, based on decisions of the party’s central committee.


The NC had informed the EC that both ward chairpersons had joined other political parties, following which the EC declared their posts vacant.
