KATHMANDU, April 3: Investigative journalist, author, and lecturer Deepa Dahal has been appointed as Press and Research Expert to Prime Minister Balendra Shah.
Dahal was appointed to the post on Friday in accordance with the Procedure for Advisors to the Prime Minister and Secretariat Management, 2074 BS. She has assumed her responsibilities from the same day.
Active in journalism and academia for more than two decades, Dahal will play a role in shaping Prime Minister Shah’s communication strategy as well as supporting media engagement and research-related work.

The appointment aims to bring her extensive journalistic experience in areas such as anti-corruption, good governance, and social justice into the government’s mainstream policymaking environment.
Dahal has more than 20 years of professional experience in radio, television, print, and online journalism. Most recently, she was working as a senior correspondent at Ukalo.com, focusing on investigative reporting.
For the past seven years, she has also been teaching journalism at Padmakanya Multiple Campus, under Tribhuvan University. In addition to teaching journalism and communication skills, she is also a trainer in authentic leadership.
Dahal is the author of the research-based book “COVID: An Unimaginable Crisis” and has received several national and international awards related to investigative journalism.
