KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has accused the government of bringing the ordinance to support vested-interest groups.

Addressing the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Thursday, Dahal accused the government of hastily introducing the ordinance to serve the interests of the vested interest groups. “Barely six days before the commencement of the winter session, five ordinances were introduced to amend dozens of Acts. Over the last 35 years, Nepali Congress has held the position of Prime Minister 12 times, and the UML has held it 7 times,” he said.

“After being Prime Minister for 35 years, are these ordinances being issued because the country’s development will slow down in just six days? Is the government trying to perform a miracle by bringing the ordinance six days ago?”  asked Dahal.

Chairman Dahal, who is also the leader of the main opposition party, also accused the government of choosing the path of ordinances to satisfy self-interest groups. Dahal has said that the government is unnatural. “I have called the government opaque, unnatural. I have not said that I will overthrow it,” he said.

Dahal also announced that the Maoist Center would form a government on its own strength. “We will form the government.  However, we are not involved in the game of overthrowing the government right now,” he added.
