Culling of bird flu infected chickens continues in Bhatakpur

BHAKTAPUR: The Livestock Office, Bhaktapur, culled nearly 8,000 chickens on Thursday after the confirmation of the bird flu in different poultry keeping farms in the district.



A team of the technicians from the office culled 370 chickens, 300 eggs and 450 kilograms of poultry feed from the Khayamali Poultry Farm of Bishnu Prasad Khayamali at Bhaktapur Municipality-1. [break]



Some 2,630 chickens of the poultry farm among 3,000 layers chickens had died before the technicians´ reached the site for culling.



Likewise, 2,143 layers chickens were culled and 916 eggs were destroyed from the Nishkalankeshwor Mahadev Poultry Farm in Bageshwori VDC.



As many as 3,860 chickens had died earlier in the farm, it is said.



Chief of Office Khagendra Raj Bhatta said that 5,475 chickens were culled from Jije Poultry Farm in Ngkhel VDC-2.
