Cooperative to sponsor Pulchowk Sports Club

KATHMANDU, Aug 21: Pulchowk Sports Club, the second tier sports club, based in Lalitpur signed a record sponsorship deal with the Shree Laligurans Multipurpose Cooperative Limited amidst a function at Pulchowk, Lalitpur, on Sunday.



The deal worth Rs 900,000 will be valid for a year.[break]



Pulchowk Club President Rabindra Joshi and Laligurans Cooperative Chief Executive Director Surendra Bhandari penned the deal on behalf of their respective intuitions. With deal, the club has become the first second division club to get the highest amount from sponsors. As per the deal, the club will henceforth be officially named Laligurans Pulchowk Sports Club.



Meanwhile, Bhandari, of Laligurans Cooperative, also handed over jersey and other sports kits to Bikash Dangol, the captain of the club.



The club established in 2042 BS is competing in the Martyrs Memorial Red Bull B Division Football League to begin from Wednesday. The club which participated for the first time in qualifiers football in 2060 BS, made it to the second division as the runner up of C division in 2061 BS. Similarly, the club finished fifth in 2062 and 2065 BS respectively.



Speaking on the occasion, Cooperative´s Chief Executive Director Surendra Bhandari said that the cooperative will continue to lend support to the club in future as well and also assured of greater support if the club secures place in the top flight.



Club´s president Joshi said that the deal would encourage the club to put better show in upcoming tournaments. "The deal will definitely boost the morale of the club and we hope we´ll make it to the top flight," Joshi said.



Minister for Peace and Reconciliation Pampha Bhusal congratulated the club and the cooperative for signing the agreement and also stressed on the possibility of making Lalitpur a district of sporting talents.



Altogether 15 B division clubs are competing in the league to begin from Wednesday. Top two teams from B division will qualify for next year´s A division league, while the bottom four will be relegated.



Similarly, the top six clubs will qualify for the B Division National League to be held later this year.
