KATHMANDU, Aug 1: The Constituency Delineation Commission asked the government to extend its term by 10 more days, on Thursday.

CDC Chairman Tahir Ali Ansari met with Chairman of Interim Election Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi and requested him in writing for the term extension. [break]

Earlier, the government had appointed Chuda Raj Uprety in place of Madhunidhi Tiwari, who resigned as CDC member. The CDC has sought more time, stating that it takes some time for the newly appointed member Uprety to get updated on tasks so far carried out by the commission and take part in decision making process.

The commission was set up on June 19 under former apex court justice Ansari to redraw constituencies for the upcoming Constituent Assembly elections scheduled for November 19.  It began its work on June 25. The current term, earlier extended also by 10 days, is due to expire on August 3.
