Bardiya Tharus to withdraw banda for five days

GULARIYA, Sept 7: Agitating Tharuwan Joint Struggle Committee has withdrawn the programme of protest for five days from Sept 8 to 12. With this decision, the Bardiya people who had been bearing the brunt of the prolonged banda or shutdown are to get a little relief.Traffic, education institutes and market places will remain open during this period, said Committee Coordinator Govinda Prasad Tharu.

The committee decided to change the form of agitation, keeping in mind the people's needs. It has been around a month (28 days) since the committee imposed the banda in the district, demanding provision of a separate autonomous province in the new constitution. RSS
