KATHMANDU, Sept 4: A team of 75 army personnel led by a lieutenant colonel has been withdrawn from Parmananda Jha´s residence at Gaurighat and the Office of the Vice President at Kantipath on Friday.

This security detail has been replaced by a 21-member team of Armed Police Force personnel. They will guard only the residence. Meanwhile, a Home Ministry team is expected soon at Gaurighat to remove the national flag from Jha´s residence.

The government took the step following "inactive" status of Jha´s vice presidency after he refused to take oath in Nepali as directed by the Supreme Court recently.
