Meanwhile, ANFA awarded cash prizes to the best players in four different categories -- goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward -- and the best coach.
Kishor Giri (Polchowk), Bibek Pratap Pant (Madhyapur), Sumin Mainali (Sankata), Krishna Shakya (Birgunj) and Shyam Mali (Sankata) were adjudged the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, forward and coach respectively. Each of them received Rs 15,000.
ANFA had formed a three-member committee to adjudge the best players in their respective positions. Deputy CEO of ANFA Rajendra Parajuli and coaches Sunil Shrestha and Bal Gopal Maharjan were in the committee.
ANFA President Ganesh Thapa handed over trophy and cash prizes to the winners.
´ANFA will take action against match-fixing´
During the program, Thapa said ANFA is serious about match-fixing allegations and it will take action against the guilty. “ANFA is serious about the issue. We´ve formed a probe committee to investigate the matter. If found guilty, ANFA will take severe action against such players and clubs,” said Thapa.
Thapa requested players to report to ANFA if their club management or coach haved asked them to fix any match. “Without players´ connivance, no management staffers can fix a match,” said Thapa.
“I request players to think about their future and to report to ANFA about match fixing. Without their help, we cannot check this problem,” he added.
Following match-fixing rumors in the Martyrs Memorial A Division League, B division league was also marred by similar rumors. Star Club has also filed a written complaint at ANFA against its own goalkeeper and Sankata Club.
