KATHMANDU, Sept 20: Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu has arrested 4,127 people during the one-month long Special Security Operation that began on August 21 in Kathmandu. Of them, criminal cases have been filed against 452 people.
According to a press statement issued on Thursday, police have claimed that the operation was successful in curbing crimes. The operation focused on curbing black marketing, social crime, drug abuse and prostitution, among others.[break]
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dhiraj Pratap Singh who is also the spokesperson for Police Range said criminal activities have gone down in the last one month.
According to the data, 311 cases were registered from Mid-August to Mid-September whereas from Mid-July to Mid-August the number of cases registered was 359. Police said they will continue the operation till the end of festive season.
