After much pleading, she was finally allowed to uncover the corpses. But soon after seeing their lifeless bodies, she fell unconscious. In her last encounter with them, her children had bid her goodbye with smiles on their faces.Three little girls of Dhangadhi district died after drowning while taking bath in Manera River of Atariya Municipality-13 on Thursday evening. The deceased have been identified as Karishma Gari of Atariya, 12; and the daughters of above mentioned Purna Nath - Asmiti, 12, and Anisha, 9, of Shiva Nagar-1, Dhangadhi district.
Asmiti and Anisha had traveled with their father, Ramesh Nath Yogi, to Atariya to their relative's house on Wednesday. "While leaving home, my daughters had told me they will return tomorrow and not to worry about them," recalled Purna, still sobbing. "Why did they leave me," she lamented.
"We went to their aunt's house yesterday. I left them there as they insisted on going for a picnic. So I returned to Dhangadhi early the next morning as I had to report to my duty," said a tearful Yogi, a police constable, "News of my children's death reached me just few moments after I reached Dhangadhi. I couldn't have imagined this."
According to him, the children did not know how to swim. As the river was deeper than the children had suspected, they drowned.
Katak Singh, a teacher of Stone Bridge, where the children attended, said, "Asmiti was exceptional both academically and in extra-curricular activities. She was very talented and well disciplined". He added that the school is mourning the loss of the children. Asmiti was in grade six while her sibling, Anisha, was in the first grade. Karishma was a seventh grade student of GK Boarding English School.
Meanwhile, two persons died in Dailekh district after they fell 300 meters while they were building the roofs of houses. They were crushed by falling stones they were using to build the roofs.
The deceased have been identified as Prem Bahadur Thapa of Pagnath-6, 38 and Bir Singh Kami of Pagnath-4, 60.
