Gorkha DPHO storing expired medicines for a decade

GORKHA, Sept 19: District Public Health Office (DPHO) of Gorkha has stored various kinds of medicines which expired more than a decade ago. Though the store room has been full of such drugs, nothing has been done for their disposal. According to the officials of the DPHO, the disposal of expired medicines is a lengthy and messy process.

Supreme Court orders govt to open subsidized pharmacies at hospitals

KATHMANDU, Sept 19: Acting on a public interest litigation (PIL), the Supreme Court on Monday ordered the government to open a subsidized pharmacy at each public hospital and distribute free medicines from such pharmacy. It has also ordered the government not to allow private-sector pharmacies on the premises of public hospitals.
