UML warns govt against making any key decisions, appointments

KATHMANDU, Dec 14: The main opposition party, CPN-UML, which has emerged as the single largest party in the recently held parliamentary and provincial assembly polls, has warned the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) not to make any key decisions that may have long-term impacts including key appointments and promotion of police officials.

The vote count has concluded for the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) for the House of Representatives and provincial Assembly elections on Wednesday. As per the final result, CPN-UML has emerged as largest party with secureed victory on 80 seats to the House of Representatives and 168 seats on provincial assemblies. KATHMANDU, Dec 13: Expenditures for the two houses of parliament and the provincial assemblies will be  at least three times that  of the previous constituent assembly-turned parliament. The annual expenditure of the 601-member parliament was  around Rs 1.40 billion, and this expenditure will now soar to Rs 4.25 billion, according to a study of all legislatures and their secretariats prepared  in July by the parliament secretariat.
