We are working to restore electricity supply in Lalitpur : NEA

KATHMANDU, Sept 30: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has stated that it is making maximum efforts to restore regular electricity supply in Lalitpur that was disrupted due to continuous rainfall.

The continuous rainfall on September 27 and September 28 caused a disruption in electricity supply in most areas of Lalitpur. Many locations experienced downed poles and damage to distribution lines, leading to difficulties in power supply.

The NEA has stated that while electricity has been regularly available in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur since Sunday, repairs are still ongoing in areas outside the urban regions of Lalitpur. According to Bijay Mahato, head of the Lagankhel distribution center, repairs have faced challenges in certain areas due to the inability to operate road traffic.

According to Spokesperson Chandan Kumar Ghosh of the NEA, necessary personnel have been deployed for repairs, and regular electricity supply is expected to resume in many areas by this evening.

In Lakuri Bhanjyang, 10 poles have been damaged, and the occurrence of landslides on the road has made it difficult to deploy personnel for repairs. Once the road is cleared, regular electricity supply should be restored within two days. There is an obstruction on the road to Godawari-3, Phulchowki. Electricity supply is expected to resume within three days after the road is operational.

The exact details of the damage near the radar of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal in Bhattedanda have not yet been confirmed. However, the NEA has stated that preparations are underway to provide electricity to the area by later today.

The Lagankhel Distribution Center has deployed manpower to partially restore electricity today in some areas of Kantipur Colony, Kusunti, located in Lalitpur-14. Additionally, electricity will be provided today to 20 houses behind KIST Medical College.

According to the NEA, efforts are underway to restore electricity today in various locations including Little Angels School and the Land Consolidation Project in Lalitpur-23.

Details of the damage to the Godawari to Lele route have not yet been confirmed. Landslides on the road and washouts in certain areas have created obstacles, causing issues in the repair work. Sufficient manpower has been deployed at all locations to assess the condition of each pole and expedite the repair efforts.

Similarly, the NEA has informed Republica that the repair work is being expedited based on the details of the damage in other parts of the country and has also requested information about areas without electricity.

Similarly, the NEA has also initiated the repair process for major transmission lines damaged by floods. The Kabeli Corridor and the Khimti-Lamosangu 132 kV transmission line have also suffered damages, with towers collapsing, causing disruptions in electricity flow.
