Yeti Airlines aircraft hit by bird in Pokhara

POKHARA, March 23 : A Yeti Airlines aircraft heading to Kathmandu was hit by a bird while it was accelerating on the runway of Pokhara Airport on Monday afternoon.

Following the incident, the aircraft was returned to the parking area for repair.


The Jetstream 41 aircraft with call-sign 9N-AIH suffered bird-hit at around 12:30 pm.

According to a source, the aircraft was being repaired by technicians, who arrived from Kathmandu, till late in the evening" "All 29 passengers on board the aircraft have been sent to Kathmandu in other aircraf"," the source added.

Officials of airlines say bird-hits is increasing mainly due to piling up of garbage near airport area and operation of meat shops at Prithvi Chowk -- the ending point of runway.

On Sunday, a Thai Airways aircraft suffered bird-hit while landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
