The Maiti Nepal rescued the 28-year-old woman from the brothel in Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. The woman is from Nuwakot. The rescued woman and her daughter have been sheltered in Maiti Nepal. According to the rescued woman, four persons including Purna Kumar Tamang of Makawanpur had taken her and her sister to Meerut promising them jobs.
The woman was rescued after her family lodged an application in Maiti Nepal for her rescue. The family moved Maiti Nepal after a Nepali man, who had visited the brothel, informed them about her plight over a telephone number provided by the woman, according to Maiti Nepal´s regional coordinator Keshav Koirala.
The woman said that the brothels in Meerut separate children from mothers and keep them somewhere far from the brothel and allow the mothers to meet the kids once in every two months. She added that the brothels also administer growth-accelerating hormones to girl children and force them into prostitution at a very tender age.
