The series titled “Katha Prem Ka” is based on the themes of love and tragedy. They discussed the perils of living with a life threatening disease. The first short film told the story of Sanjana, an AIDS victim. The second film, the most mature among the four, showcased the life of an independent woman (enacted by theater actor Nisha Sharma), who falls for a younger guy. The third was a young, sick girl’s tale and the last one relayed the tragic story of a young girl who falls for a dead man who dies of an unknown sickness.

All the short films have already been broadcast by Kantipur Television. “It was a challenge to make a new short film in a span of six days. I always try to use new locations and characters,” expressed director Shrestha. The series is broadcast from Kantipur television every week at 7:30 pm on Tuesday.

Praising the films after the screening, director Yubaraj Lama said, “I was very touched by the films and it was well presented. She has developed the characters with maturity.” He further pointed out that the films followed a pattern. “The films were all women centric, they used monologues abundantly and all of them ended tragically,” Lama said. Raj Kumar Rai, chairman of Nepal Producers Association, speaking after Lama mentioned that his favorite short film was the second one.

The short films had a line up of some very popular faces like Tripti Nadekar, Nisha Sharma and Binita Baral. Shrestha hopes to continue her endeavor by “presenting the different colors of love” in her short films.
