US envoy calls on Khanal

KATHMANDU, Dec 12: The US ambassador to Nepal, Peter W Bodde, met CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal at the latter’s residence in Dallu, on Wednesday morning.



During the meeting, the two dwelt on a range of issues including the parties’ ongoing efforts for formation and consensus government and new elections. [break]



On the occasion, Khanal told the US envoy that his party has been putting up its best efforts for the formation of consensus government and new elections in May-April.



Khanal also stressed that there is no alternative to working in tandem with other political parties, including the ruling UCPN (Maoist) in the present context.



According to Khanal’s aide Ram Babu Adhikari, the US envoy assured Khanal that his country along with other donor agencies is ready to extend necessary help, including technical assistance, for a successful conduction of elections.
