"UNMIN is yet to accomplish its mission," Chemjong said, adding, "Therefore, the mission shouldn´t be sent back." [break]
He informed that the government would initiate process fro extension of UNMIN´s term. Chemjong´s remarks came at a time while some other coalition partners in the government have been questioning UNMIN´s role.
"There is no option but to extend UNMIN´s term," Chemjong said, adding, "UNMIN shouldn´t be sent back at any cost."
He said the government is considering the issue of freeing the Nepal Army from UNMIN´s monitoring. "The government is currently studying about relieving Nepal Army from UNMIN´s monitoring," he added.
Chemjong backed Nepal Army´s fresh recruitment process. "The NA´s fresh recruitment is regular process," he said, "It won´t obstruct ongoing peace process." He further defended that the NA began recruitment process just to fill up vacant posts and not to create additional posts.
He accused the Maoist of violation of Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) by forcefully providing training to innocent people in the pretext of self-defense. "The government wouldn´t tolerate violent activities of the Maoists anymore," he said.
He warned that the Maoists would be responsible for any unexpected incidents. "Maoist shouldn´t conduct activities that obstruct the peace process," he said, adding, "Otherwise the government wouldn´t remain a mute spectator."
