Unidentified persons abduct journo’s sister

NEPALGUNJ, Jan 15: A group of about seven unidentified persons kidnapped 16-year-old Wahida Khan, sister of local journalist Alam Khan here on Tuesday morning, police said.



Resident of Betani VDC-9, Banke, Alam is working with Nepalgunj-based Nawa Madhes Jagaran Dainik.



The unidentified group abducted her from her residence at 5:45 a.m, said Inspector Pradip DC of the district police office.



Alam filed a complaint at the office saying that some 5-7 unidentified persons kidnapped her. The abductors left a note written in Hindi language at the house. It said they took her away with them.



Meanwhile, a police team from Nepalgunj was deployed Thursday morning to a forest area in the Indian territory near the Nepal-India border following a tipoff that a body of a girl has been found there.

The district police office said the deceased is yet to be identified as the police team has not reached the site, some 16 kilometers away from Nepalgunj. Nepal Police are working in coordination with their Indian counterpart over the issue. Police had received a phone call in which the caller said said a girl’s body is lying in a jungle area in the Indian territory.
