Principal of Siddhi Ganesh Primary School Jaya Bahadur Chand, 43, of Banjha VDC-7, was allegedly murdered following a dispute over appointment of teachers in the school on May 14. The other two accused in the murder are Yen Bahadur Bhandari and Puskar Bhandari. Both have been absconding.
Preliminary police investigation showed that principal Chand was murdered and his body thrown into the Kalanga River. Chand was beaten till he fell unconscious, according to Bhakta Bahadur.After Chand went missing for more than two weeks, police had intensified search for the accused.
Chief of District Police DSP Laxmi Adhikari said, "After the accused confessed his crime, we began our search but could not find the dead body."
The Bajhang District Court on Thursday sent him to seven-day in police custody for further investigation.
The accused has confessed his crime but once the body is recovered, we will further establish the case, he said. A regional police team has reached the site to search for the body.
