KATHMANDU, April 26: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ´Prachanda´ has reiterated that the CPN (UML) will loose its political existence if it forges alliance with the Nepali Congress in the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) polls.

At a cadres´ training program organized by the party´s Newa: State Committee in the capital on Friday, Dahal said the time has come for the UML to identify who are its friendly forces. [break]

The UCPN (Maoist) Chairman said UML´s existence would come into question if it forges alliance with the status quoist forces by forgetting its own ideals.

"I have raised a theoretical and political concern. I did not intend to devalue anyone. Its existence would collapse automatically if it goes out from the political line. The UML is heading to the same direction," he claimed.

Saying that the Maoists would forge an alliance with all forces that are in favour of change, Dahal said a joint front would be made with indigenous, Madhesi, suppressed, Dalits and women under the leadership of UCPN (Maoist).

He was of the opinion that maximum efforts would be made to make the next CA more inclusive and pro-people and added that the forces that are reluctant to empower the people would be limited to the pages of the history.

Dahal also ruled out the rumors that the Maoists were planning to topple the current government and said, "We just want this government to conduct the elections on time. Environment conducive to elections should be set by fixing the elections date soon."

He also directed the party cadres and leaders to work wholeheartedly to make the CA elections a success and garner more and more seats for the party.

Stating that worldwide debates on the party´s new political guidelines taken after the seventh general convention, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Dahal said the capitalist people´s revolution would fully liberate Nepal and Nepalis.

The Maoist party was highlighting the economic issues as economic development was required for political stability and mere political slogans would not uplift the people´s living standards, he added.

He also said that a developed Nepal only could address the concerns of world´s two economic giants—China and India.

Some 2,500 UCPN (Maoist) cadres were present in the training programme attended by party Vice-Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha, General Secretary Posta Bahadur Bogati and others.

However, another Vice-Chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai remained absent at the programme due to his Australia trip.
