The meeting of the valley coordination committee of the party on Friday also objected to proposal of accepting candidacy of the persons who have served punishment on various criminal charges. [break]
Objecting to ‘conspiracy’ to make a 601-member CA, the party has demanded that size of the CA should not exceed 491 as per earlier agreement among the parties.
The party also wanted strong implementation of providing identity cards to the voters and demanded that the authority begin processes for election of the local bodies.
The party has decided to hold a mass meeting at Khullmanch on Wednesday to mark May Day.
The Election Commission (EC), in the draft ordinance on amending the Election of Members of the Constituent Assembly Act, 2013, has proposed that a political party must secure one percent of the total valid votes cast in the election to be eligible for proportional seats in Constituent Assembly (CA). Earlier, the constitutional body had proposed a threshold of 1.5 percent.
