The assailants torched the vehicle being used by UCPN (Maoist) candidate Ramji Baral of constituency-3 for election campaigns at Baskot of Hemaja VDC on Wednesday morning. [break]
The owner had taken the vehicle, with registration No Ga 1 Cha 3104, to Hemja VDC to collect milk in the morning when a gang of five to seven assailants set the vehicle on fire, said police.
The vehicle has been badly damaged. However, there were no any election publicity materials in the vehicle since it was being used for collecting milk during the period. The arsonists have also snatched away the driver’s mobile, said DSP Rajesh Bastola of Kaski district.
Earlier, UCPN (Maoist) vehicle belonging to candidate Bishnu Paudel of constituency-1 of Kaski district had been set ablaze in Siddha VDC. Similarly, poll training materials were also looted in Rithe VDC of Lekhanath Municipality.
Police have not arrested any one of the culprits involved in the incident so far.
