The winner will secure berth in the Asian U-16 Basketball to be held in Tehran, Iran in September. Keshang Thokya Thakuri is the captain of the team while Saugat Singh Baniya is the vice-captain. Ajay Kunwar, Anish Magar, Sohrat Shah, Suraj Lama, Sujan Century, Denjo Gurung, Prayus Shrestha, Chhewang Jhankri, Sandesh Tamang and Sudip Acharya are the other members of the squad. Subrat Maharjan is the leader of the Nepali team while Biku Maharjan and Prem Sundar Hona are the coach and assistant coach. FIBA referee Raj Kumar Maharjan will referee matches during the qualifiers. National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama and others bade farewell to the team on Sunday.
Bauddha Dojo wins valley-wide karate
KATHMANDU: Bauddha Dojo on Sunday finished on top in the Second GP Koirala Memorial Valley-wide Karate Championship on Sunday. Bauddha finished with eight gold, two sivler and five bronze medals. Lainchaur Dojo secured second position with three gold, six silver and nine bronze medals in the event organized jointly by Bhainsepati Branch Dojo and Deep Kunja School. Aruj Dangol of Lainchaur and Manisha Moktan of Bauddha were declared the best male and female players of the tournament. Altogether 400 players had competed for 21 gold medals during the two-day event.
